Ginger water ... a powerhouse!

Ginger water made with freshly grated ginger is a powerhouse! It serves as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory agent, antinausea compound, and anticancer agent. One of my favorite drinks is ginger with honey and lemon. I also grate turmeric in it, too, to take advantage of turmeric's health benefits. The combination of ginger, lemon, and raw honey hydrates the body, flushes toxins out of the liver, and provides glucose.

The stand-alone benefits of ginger are as follows

  • Aids digestion;

  • Prevents colds, flu, sore throats, vertigo, and motion sickness;

  • Provides relief from stomach flu and food poisoning; and

  • Alleviates menstrual cramps, nausea, heart burn, migraines, fatigue, and constipation.

Ginger Water with Lemon and Honey

  • 1 - 2 inches of fresh ginger grated;

  • 2 cups of water;

  • 1/2 lemon juiced; and

  • 2 teaspoons of raw honey.

Add grated ginger to the warm-termperature water and all it to steep for 15 minutes or longer. After allotted time, strain the ginger from the water. Add the lemon juice and raw honey. If you would prefer it warmed, after straining, warm the ginger water and add the lemon juice and raw honey thereafter. The temperature of the water after warming should be comfortable to drink. It is at that time that the lemon juice and raw honey would be added. Adding honey to boiling or very hot water causes it to become toxic.

Enjoy!
